Deaf Event: Pizza Royal ASL Night in Rancho Cucamonga

Inland Empire ASL weekly Pizza night. Held every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

I look forward to our little family we have created here, this is often the highlight of mine and I know many of yours week. Our little group sure has grown, we started at Starbucks with as many as 5 to 10 people showing up every week to now often 20 to 40 people and more sometime! Which ended in us having to relocate to a larger establishment. So here we are now at Pizza Royal and they have been great accommodating us! It has been a fabulous journey and I am looking forward to more memories with old friends and making new ones with new friends! See you guys there!!

ASL Students are welcome, but please keep in mind this is a Deaf social. Please respect that and sign rather than use your voices.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND TEACHERS PLEASE READ! We do enjoy meeting new students and helping as much as we can in their process of learning ASL. But with that said, if you are a teacher and plan on sending your whole class at one time to this social, PLEASE CHAPERONE your class! If there is more than two or three students at a time, please have a parent or teacher attend with you. You must remember this is a deaf social, deaf do not get to socialize with other deaf as often as hearing do with each other and as I said while we do enjoy meeting all the students and helping, we are not here to baby sit. It is quite overwhelming when a whole class or two shows up all at once and interrupts our social time.

ALL LEVEL STUDENTS PLEASE READ.

We do not mind you using this event as your “deaf event” for class. BUT, you MUST participate and turn off your voice! Please do not come in groups and then sit away from everyone and voicing among yourselves. The whole point to attending a deaf event is to practice your ASL skills, learn about deaf culture and immerse yourself into the culture and language.

May students show up and after 5 minutes seek out a deaf individuals and ask for a picture because your teacher requires one. We are more than happy to accommodate this, AFTER you have participated, socialized and made an attempt to get to know each other. When you show up and seek us out the first five minutes, get a picture and leave, quite frankly this is rude and makes us feel like a animal in the zoo and on display. While we know most do not do this and it isn’t meant for all students, it does happen quite often, often enough I feel I need to post this here now. So relax sit back, socialize and mingle and lets have our photo sessions at the end when we have gotten to know you a little and you us. :-) Feel free to introduce yourselves we love to meet new people!

It also needs to be remembered, that Pizza Royal is a business establishment. It is very kind of them to let us host this event at their location, please support them and buy a bite to eat or drink. :-) Leaving a tip is great also as they accommodate our large group excellently and deserve all the tips they get!
