Emergency Communication You Are Not Reaching Everyone.

Emergency communications is not reaching every one, about 16% of an area is Deaf or hard of hearing. Public Information Officers, Government Leadership, the Media are all responsible to spread the message. Critical communications, press conferences relaying information, all media formats need to be understood. Who are we NOT reaching and how dangerous is the lapse?

Jenny has became one of the first two Deaf persons in the State of Florida to become FEMA CERT Instructor. She holds her PADI Rescue Diving certification and Emergency First Response/First Aid & CPR. She’s collaborating with Florida CERT Programs and Emergency Operation Centers, providing access to disaster preparation and relief for individuals who are deaf and hard-of-hearing. She is a constant advocate to major media companies to keep the sign language interpreter on camera during emergency press releases.
